Golden & Associates to breakground on Southside Baptist Church addition

Birmingham, Ala., Sept. 29, 2006 - Southside Baptist Church and Golden & Associates Construction will hold a ground breaking ceremony this Sunday, October 1, at 12:15 p.m. at the church located on the corner of 11th Avenue and 19th St. South. Golden & Associates is set to begin construction next week on the new four-story elevator tower with a ground level foyer and will also be renovating 19,000 sq. ft. in select areas of the building. The majority of the renovation will take place on the first floor. Renovation details include:  select interior demolition and new paint, flooring, ceilings, and millwork. An operable wall partition will also be added to the banquet hall. The remaining three floors will receive minor renovations for the new elevator lobbies and stairwell access. New lighting and sprinkler systems will be installed in the renovated areas and fire alarms installed in the majority of the building. Golden & Associates will also be replacing existing and adding new HVAC units to the church.

The $2.8 million project is slated to be complete in September 2007. Williams Blackstock Architects is the architect firm for the project.

Golden & Associates Construction is also putting the finishing details on The Cathedral of St. Paul’s additions and alterations to the Family Life Center.  Other local projects currently under construction include: 2600 Highland condos, Mt. Brook Elementary School additions, and renovations to the historical Crawford’s Auto Shop building.
