FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Birmingham, Ala., June 15, 2005 - Renovation is underway at 2212 First Avenue South to be Golden & Associates Construction's new headquarters. Golden & Associates currently occupies 3,000 square feet in the Bebco building located on First Avenue South and 23rd Street South. A tenant for only three years, Golden & Associates' rapid growth gave reason to search for larger space. The two story, 10,000 square feet former Birmingham Water Works building is a perfect fit for the general contractor because of its location, size, storage space and its private parking lot located next to the building - a rare convenience in downtown. Golden & Associates is scheduled to move into the building by the end of August. Ty Cole of Giattina Fisher Aycock is the architect for the project.
Golden & Associates Construction was one of the first companies to move into the historical area, and President Geoff Golden has grown to appreciate the character and appeal of the district. Golden wanted to stay in the area because of its appeal and to be supportive of the downtown renaissance.
Already an integral part of the downtown renaissance, Golden & Associates has renovated many of the downtown historical buildings including: the old Chamber of Commerce building which is now Jemison Flats lofts and commercial space, the AC Legg Spice Company building which is now luxury lofts, the Eubanks building which is now a private residence and office and the Bebco building that is the current headquarters for the company.
Geoff Golden founded the company in late 1997 to offer superior solutions for building needs on projects that would typically be under-serviced by larger contractors or too complex for smaller companies lacking the management strength. The company began with only Golden and 5 other employees, and has grown to over 40 employees in under 7 years.
Golden & Associates has contributed greatly to the Birmingham construction market over the past seven years and is one of the area's major contenders in general contracting. Recent projects include renovating space for Infinity Insurance Company and Servis1st Bank, and the contractor is currently doing work for Hoover's Spain Park High School, Homewood's Hall Kent Elementary School, Jefferson County Personnel Board, and Wachovia Bank at Wildwood. Golden & Associates will begin construction later this year on the 2600 Highland condos on the corner of 24th Street South and Highland Avenue and will begin renovation on the Roger's Trading Post building at 2500 First Avenue North and the Jefferson Lofts at 1716 Second Avenue North.
