Construction underway for grocery distributor's warehouse

Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 22, 2005 - Construction is underway for J&L Enterprises’ warehouse, located in the Calera Industrial Park South in Calera. J&L Enterprises, a food distributor for multiple national grocery store chains, will use the warehouse to hold and divide bulk products purchased from manufacturers. The 60,000 square feet warehouse will include 5,000 square feet of refrigerated and freezer space, 50,000 of storage space, and 5,000 square feet of office space. The warehouse will employ twelve people.

The warehouse will be built with 47 concrete, tilt-up panels and an EPDM roof with steel framing and joists.  The tilt-up panels vary in size, but most are approximately 35 feet high and 20 feet wide. The $3.1 million project began in November 2005 is scheduled to be complete in May 2006. Marcial Mendez is the project manager and D.J. Echols is the superintendent. Lathan & Associates is the architect firm for the project.
