MD Henry Company Additions

The first MD Henry addition was a 20,000 sq. ft., twin bay, double tier extension to MD Henry’s fabrication shop. Over 325 cubic yards of concrete were used to pour two 6-inch, fiber reinforced slab foundations and 500 feet of 12-inch poured foundation walls. The exterior construction consisted of structural steel framing with metal skin. Skylights and sidelights were installed to allow natural light into the building. Golden & Associates also installed new 10-ton and 5-ton overhead gantry cranes and rails.

New restroom facilities and interior docking bays were also added to the existing fabrication shop.

The second addition consisted of installing a press and another building addition. The press foundation consisted of three large pier footings approximately 9 ft. by 17 ft. by 3 ft. with 2-inch diameter anchor bolts. Following the foundation, a 9 ft. deep pit was installed to house the press’s shear blade.

After the foundation was completed, the press was installed. This machinery consisted of five pieces, each weighing approximately 85,000 lbs. Because of the size and weight of the machine, Golden & Associates took extra precautions to ensure the installation was completed without any unexpected issues.

After the press installation, Golden & Associates enclosed it with a 75 ft. by 200 ft. addition to the existing metal building. Included in the building addition was an indoor loading dock for overhead cranes to move 60 ft. pieces of flat sheet steel to and from the press.
