Wachovia Wildwood Operations Facility
When one of the nation's largest banking institutions, Wachovia Bank, bought one of the state's largest banking institutions, SouthTrust Bank, several changes needed to be made to the existing operations facility. This 25,000 sq. ft. renovation of the Wildwood Operations Facility Building I included selected demolition of 7,000 sq. ft. on the first floor and added a new training room and team room. The ground floor renovation included relocating the mail services department into a previous storage area, upgrades to the existing maintenance department and expansion of the money center operations.
Wachovia's multiple work shifts presented a challenge for Golden & Associates' construction schedule. Most of the improvements had to be done at night, cleaned up and ready for Wachovia employees to function normally during the next business day. Golden & Associates met the challenge by coordinating floor finishes, owner furniture relocation and electrical requirements in a series of phases at night and over weekends so that a portion of the workstations could be operational while the next construction phase was being completed.
Careful coordination and constant communication were vital to making this a successful project. The construction team worked closely with the design team and Wachovia to ensure all requirements were met and the areas of new construction were turned over to Wachovia at the appropriate times.
Due to the high security of the facility, interior photographs are not permitted.
