Birmingham-based Golden & Associates Construction LLC received a $4 million contract to renovate the Houston Cole Library on Jacksonville State University's campus in East Alabama. In an effort to provide a more consistent visual appearance with other newer campus structures, the 13-story facility will receive a new radiant red granite exterior, replacing the existing Alabama white marble. Masonry Arts, a Birmingham masonry company, will be completing the skin-reclad. The building will also undergo reconstruction of the 12th and 13th floors for added learning and meeting space, and the project also calls for the addition of a 12th-story patio area and new metal roof to match the aesthetics of the more modern campus skyline.
Golden & Associates Construction project manager David B. Thompson and superintendent Roy L. Bell will be overseeing the project. With more than 40 years of combined experience, the company provides general contracting and construction services to clients in all major industries.
